Is it true that I could be chosen for a random Verification Audit?

Sadly, some people try to abuse this wonderful service. So the federal government and free government cell phone service providers do random checks in an attempt to keep people honest.

The odds against being audited are only slightly less than the odds of you winning the lottery, but you should be aware that it could happen.

What happens if you are randomly chosen for one of these annual verification audits?

You will be required to provide documented proof that you participate in an eligible program or evidence that your income falls below your state’s federal poverty guidelines.

A package with instructions will be mailed to you by your service provider and you will be required to follow the instructions.

If you don’t respond and fully answer all the service provider’s questions, your participation in the free government cell phone program will probably be suspended.
